Anti-Domestic Violence Network of China Law Society

Mission:

Propelling reform of relevant regulations by researching, training and advocacy, creating multi-organizational collaboration on interfering domestic violence, improving women’s rights and interests

Anti-Domestic Violence Network of China Law Society, established in Beijing in 2000, is a NGO initiated by a group of active experts, scholars, women activists and several women’s NGOs in Beijing which concern about women’s rights. It is the first multi-field and multi-sector network that specializes in domestic violence against women. The Network aims at eliminating gender-based violence, advancing gender mainstreaming, promoting gender equality as well as propelling social development.

 

The Network currently has 121 individual members and 70 group members, which covers 28 municipalities, provinces and autonomous regions in China.

 

The Board of Directors of the Network is responsible for fundraising, decision-making and supervising.

Activities and Achievements:

1.     Established a nationwide NGO aiming at ending domestic violence

2.     Established a professional resource center and a website on combating domestic violence against womenwww.stopdv.org.cn

3.     Publicized anti-domestic violence through the media and other channels

4.     Launched demonstration research on synthetic intervention against domestic violence in urban community, rural community and healthcare system.

5.     Submitted draft proposal of the Law on Preventing Domestic Violence to the Motion Committee, the 10th National People’s Congress ( March 2003)

6.     Submitted draft proposal of Administrative Regulation Applied by the People’s Courts in Hearing Sexual Harassment Cases. ( February 2007)
